What do people know about CBMC? If they know about us at all, they may have trouble articulating what we do. That's because we have often used a fire-hose approach to explaining CBMC ministry. We say we can help with a man's whole Christian life and by extension, his family, his business, and his church too, or we to communicate what CBMC is with broad and various terms. What can we do to focus our message?
Having talked to several people over the past year about how CBMC relates to businessmen and what we can do to reach more, CBMC leaders are launching a new awareness campaign to get connected.
President Lee Truax said, "I truly believe God called me to steward this ministry at a time when, in the words of Patrick Morley, we need to 'reboot.'" With a clear message and top-shelf material to support it, the CBMC Service Center can help grassroots businessmen do the ministry they are called to.
"The grassroots are the boots on the ground. National is air cover," Lee said, "and when our message is clear, our leaders are better equipped. When you share the message of CBMC, believers get excited about it."
But over the years, our message has been muddled. "The tagline 'Get Connected' focuses our message," Lee stated.
What is the connection? Both vertical and horizontal, Lee explained. "Businessmen need to get connected to our Creator," so CBMC teaches principles of a healthy Christian life. "And God put us in relationships," so we work as disciplemakers, teammates, and leaders.
With graphical messages like "Are you going it alone" and "Which man does not know Jesus," we can clearly communicate the need for godly relationships. "Men feel isolated on many levels," Lee said, "CBMC can be valuable to them by connecting them with God and each other. It's something our ministry has been doing for years."
