This guide will help you use the Gospel of John to lead your friends to Christ,
and it's as easy as falling off a log.
Straight to the Source starts from the premise that only God converts people.
Our role is to point folks to Jesus by taking them to the Bible to see what Jesus
says about Himself and about us.
Straight to the Source groups are based on the idea that a lot of people
would read the Bible for themselves if there weren't so much baggage attached. Reading
the Bible has decidedly religious overtones for most people—not that there's anything
wrong with that—but most people aren't really looking for a new religion.
What most people are looking for is genuine relationships with people they can trust,
genuine truth they can embrace—an authentic, sustainable spiritual experience.
Straight to the Source groups invite ordinary folks to read the Gospel
of John for themselves and discuss what they're reading with other ordinary folks.
The invitations are personal. The discussion is open, honest, and unpretentious.
The atmosphere is accepting and hopeful—no strings attached, because converting
people is God's work. Order it in our store.
A Testimony from a Straight to the Source participant:
Mike Marker and I have been doing a Bible study downtown with two lawyers for about
four years. After nearly three years we finished John. Now we're up to the 7th chapter
in Romans. It takes a little longer with lawyers, because they like to argue every
jot and tittle.
But just the other day, one of the lawyers announced that he has finally figured
out that it doesn't matter what the church says or does, he can have a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ. It was as if a light bulb was switched on over his
head.
What a lesson in patience.
All credit to Christ,
Peter Bronson
More on this great tool
Straight to the Source is a tool that will teach you how to connect with
the "hard to reach" people in your life. These people struggle with universal truth
and do not see Christianity or the Bible as relevant. Some of them consider all
religious belief systems equally valid. Dallas Willard in his book, The Divine Conspiracy,
describes the situation like this, "People think they have heard the invitation.
They think they have accepted it—or rejected it. But they have not. The difficulty
today is to hear it at all."
The unfortunate reality we face is that a growing percentage of the population is
trying to determine their own brand of truth. What you may hear in response to your
testimony is, "It's great that you believe, but I have my own set of beliefs that
work just fine for me." How can we break through to a person with this way of thinking?
What most people are looking for are genuine relationships with people they can
trust, genuine truth they can embrace, and an authentic, sustainable spiritual experience.
In essence, we need a fresh way of introducing truth to people. Straight to the
Source is a natural way of doing this where relationships remain a priority.
In addition to its emphasis on relationships, Straight to the Source starts
from the premise that only God converts people. Our role is to point people to Jesus
by taking them to the Bible to see what Jesus says about Himself and about us.
Straight to the Source groups are propelled by the knowledge that a lot

Straight to the Source groups get people into the text. No preaching, no
teaching, no heavy-lifting. The group just reads the Book together and ask questions
until they get it. It's a high-involvement, low-pressure approach to leading people
to Jesus, not fast (immediate gratification), but really effective and really easy.
Like falling off a log!
Here is the big idea: if we invite people to go straight
to the source and consider what the Bible says about who Jesus is and what Jesus
envisions for us, quite a few will accept our invitation, and their lives will be
changed by the encounter.
