Does God reward us by our accomplishments or by our faithfulness to the opportunities He places before us? How then should we reward ourselves? A recurring theme among businessmen is profit, gain, or reward. It's certainly a motivator in many ways. In fact, eternal reward should motivate the believer during his earthly sojourn; but what is God's criteria for determining rewards? If one can gain rewards in Heaven, can he lose them?

For a businessman, the transition from the "grab or get grabbed" mentality of the marketplace is most difficult. Chasing dollars, securing market prominence, and defeating competitors is an accepted way of life in the business world, but for believers these actions must undergo a "spiritual audit" and shift to God's way of doing business. How does He view profit and reward? How does that relate to us? On what basis will we be judged in Heaven to have earned whatever rewards He might choose to allocate us individually? This is the question addressed in Reward: God's Criteria

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:19-21 NIV).
