Why Go To Work?
The question, "Why go to work?" may seem an unimportant question for Christians, yet it has far-reaching implications in the Kingdom of God. Most people's concepts of work are more cultural than scriptural--more Benjamin Franklin than Paul. Our society has devised a mindset which holds out the promise that work will give us wealth, prestige, esteem, purpose, values, standards, and success. But God never intended for mankind to work for these reasons! The thoughts Why Go To Work? are not necessarily revolutionary, but they are scriptural and thus counter-cultural.
Our desire simply is to encourage you to rethink why you work and how you approach labor, leisure, and their implications for your life. God has obviously given us work to do, so He intends it for our ultimate good. But labor's value is to be found mainly in relation to our reward in Heaven. In God's economy, therefore, our work is to give us hope. That makes this study extremely worthwhile!
